Born and raised in Jamaica, Queens NY, Zen is a passionate dancer, choreographer and business woman. Her love for dance started at 3 years old when her mother put her into dance school and she immediately felt at home.
What is your favorite part about dancing?
The Feeling of Liberation. How it allows me to completely detach from whatever I have going on in my life (good or bad).
What is your choreography process like?
I turn on the music and just dance. I allow the music to move me, and then keep the steps I feel work the best and put everything together like a puzzle.
Have you had any challenging moments with dance that you can share? If so, how did you overcome that challenge?
I had to overcome my personal insecurities when it came to dancing/performing/free-styling in front of others and also building confidence to teach dance. Time and consistent practice helped me overcome these challenges.
Many young dancers worry about their body types. What are your thoughts on body types in the world of dance?
I feel like everyone should dance, regardless of body type. I consider dance to be a self expression. Therefore, everyone should take full advantage of this beautiful art form.

Do you have any dancer role models?
Aisha Francis is my role model. Aisha toured the world as Beyonce’s right hand dancer and dance captain, and is the co-creator of the “Crazy in Love” Booty Dance.
What is your favorite thing to do on a “day off” from dance?
Go for a hike or just simply be in nature.
What are you go-to snacks before or after a workout?
I’m all about my green smoothies.
What is your perfect pizza?
Although, I do not eat dairy, I do enjoy a yummy and tasty vegan pizza.
