Ahhh spring! The time to smell the flowers, spend some time outside BUT also a time for spring cleaning. OK I have to be honest, I am NOT a clean freak. BUT, I’ve realized the importance of having a clean surrounding. It helps calm my mind and heart. It also helps me do more. We spend so much of our lives forming attachment to things, thoughts and emotions that we can become overburdened. Letting go gives us the freedom and space to unlock our true potential! For our 21 Day Spring Dance Intensive, we’re ALL doing some spring cleaning together. Here’s some helpful tips to get you started babe!

Start With WHY

Babe, I want to remind you that whatever it is YOU set your mind to, you have everything in the world you need to make it happen!! Think about where you want to be, are there things, thoughts and emotions that drag you down? Clutter has a habit of making people who live around it feel stressed. Cleaning for more open spaces aids in releasing the past and looking forward to the future.

My WHY

In the past year, I’ve been going through a lot of medical treatments related to hormones and fertility. I’m letting go of my disappointments and frustrations of still not understanding or knowing why. I’m making space for hope, fun adventures and a NEW summer dress!! ? ? CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET

Cleaning out your closet can seem like a daunting task. Are you holding on to jeans from a decade ago? ??‍♀️ Here’s some of my fave closet cleaning tips!

The 1 Year Rule

If you haven’t worn it in 1 year, trust me, you’re not going to wear it again. That bridesmaid dress just won’t look good on ANY occasion. My mother-in-law shared a really good trick with me. Turn around all the hangers in your closet so the hooks are pointing towards you. When you wear something. put it back the normal way. In a few months, any hangers still facing the wrong way is holding an item you haven’t worn, ready for the donation bag. I usually do this every 6 months or so.

Make Space For Your Workout Gear

What clothes inspire you to workout and feel confident? Set aside a shelf or bin of your fave yoga pants, tanks or sports bras! This makes it REALLY easy to get ready to work out. I only have to open one drawer. On the right I have my leggings, on the center my sports bras and on the left I have my workout tops. I also use adjustable drawer dividers that you can get HERE. Organize Clothes By Color

I love love having my clothes organized by color. I do this in most of my shelves. ROYGBIV all day babe! It makes it so much easier to find clothes. This works especially well for clothes that are in hangers like tops and dresses.

One IN One OUT

Once you’re done getting rid of clothes you don’t need (like that furry jacket you bought for a music festival) the hard part is keeping it clean. I use a one in 1 out method. Every time I buy something new, I have to donate or give another thing away. So if I buy a new skirt, an old skirt has to go. I won’t lie, THIS is hard but this really makes sure that you only buy things you really love because you’re gonna have to give something else away. This will also make sure you never have too many things you don’t ever wear.

CLEAN OUT YOUR KITCHEN

A clean kitchen is so important to eating healthier. Getting rid of things that don’t nourish your body the right way will help you reach your goals. If you don’t have sugar loaded gummy bears in the kitchen, you won’t eat it. I got rid of all sugar from our kitchen a year ago and I’ve never looked back.

Goal Oriented Fridge

Go through your fridge and ask yourself, “Does this help me reach my goals this year?” If the answer is NO let it go! If it’s something you’re family can’t live without move it somewhere else so you won’t see it daily. Have a clear place for fruits, veggies and all the important stuff you need to nourish yourself!

Healthy Snack Shelf

Setup a self-serve snack station (cupboard or shelf) that is easily accessible and packed with snacks you can feel good about. You’ll save yourself from binge snacking and everyone in your home will reap the health benefits. Here are some of my fave healthy / low carb / paleo snacks:

Matching Storage Containers

Do you have a drawer full of plastic containers and mismatched lids? I highly, highly recommend getting rid of them and investing on good matching containers to make storage and usage easier. I love these interlocking containers from Rubbermaid that you can get HERE. The lids lock to each other, the containers lock to each other and they lock to each other when they have food inside! Interlocking party!! I use these for all my meal prep. I’ve also invested in airtight food storage containers that are stackable (just like HERE).
