Types Of Dance Fitness Exercises
1. Cardio Dance
One of the most popular fitness classes is cardio dance. These classes have one goal and that’s to make you sweat. Usually they focus on one style like hip hop dance or twerk dance and depending on the instructor, they can either include some toning and strengthening at the end. Cardio dance classes are great if you want to free your mind and body with dance. One of my favorite cardio classes is Hip Hop Dance with Nicole Steen. It’s like being at the club with your girlfriends without a care in the world while getting a great workout in.
2. Mind-Body Flow
Mind-Body exercises typically uses yoga or martial arts and puts it in a flowing routine. This kind of exercise is really great for improving your flexibility, reducing stress and keeping your heart healthy. These classes are typically low-impact and beginner friendly. What I love about these exercises is that you really get in touch with your full body. You get to spend some time listening to your body and helping it thrive while you relax your mind. Try this 10 minute yoga flow with Kassandra and feel that stretch babe.
3. Barre Workout
Barre workouts incorporates ballet, pilates and strength training all in one. These classes focus on posture while instructors lead you through movements that will help improve your strength and endurance. In barre classes there are a lot of repetition and you’ll hear the words “tuck” and “pulses” on repeat. Tucking is when you tilt your pelvic bone forward to get to your neutral posture. Pulses is a move that you repeat in small and isolated way. A barre workout class is generally low impact with moderate intensity, but you’ll find yourself shaking a lot and that’s a good thing! Try this 5 minute Blissful Barre class where you can use a chair with a backrest as your ballet barre.
4. Sensual Dance Classes
If you want to get a little risque with your dance fitness classes, you can try it at home before going to the studio. These fitness exercises can range from burlesque dance class, pole and twerk classes. I love that these classes empower me as a woman and focuses on control and stamina. It’s so different from all the other dance classes because it’s the most vulnerable. Like I said before, go on YouTube and search for a class similar to what you want to try and get comfortable with the uncomfortable. Trust me, your body will thank you.
